If you find that the Chat volume control is too hard to control (too "twitchy") there's an easy way to smooth out its action, or "taper" -- just reverse the cable!
The Chat Talkback cable is designed with a right-angle plug on one end, meant to connect to the Xbox controller. The other end has a regular straight plug, which is meant to be connected to the headset.
To change the taper of the Chat volume control, simply connect the right-angle plug to the headset jack (instead of to the controller), and connect the straight plug to the controller.
If you like the taper better that way, then by all means use it. This can't harm your controller or headset.
