Remote - Choosing a Serial Port to use with the Remote
It is important to connect the AudioStation Remote Base Station to a Serial
port that is not being used by any other devices in your system.

If you are using an external modem or other device connected to a Serial
port, use the other, unused Serial port to connect to the Remote Base Station.
You will need to tell AudioStation which COM port (Serial port) is connected
to the Remote Base Station in the Configure Remote Receiver screen, accessible
by right-clicking on the Launch Pad icon in the Windows System Tray (in the
Windows Taskbar) and selecting Test Remote.

Some internal ISA or PCI modems will use a Serial port resource even though
they are not physically connected to either of the Serial ports on the back
of the computer.

If you have an internal modem in your system:

1. Open the Windows Device Manager.
Right click on the My Computer icon, then choose Properties,
and click on the Device Manager tab.

2. At the top of the Device Manager, check the button labeled View devices by
   type.

3. Double-click on the Computer icon, located at the top of the Device Manager
   "tree".

4. The Computer Properties window will open with the View Resources tab
showing. Click on the radio button labeled Interrupt request (IRQ).

5. In the column labeled Setting, you will see the IRQs used in your system,
numbered 00 to 15. Look for devices using IRQ 03 or 04. COM 1 will usually
use IRQ 04, while COM 2 will usually use IRQ 03.

If IRQ 03 or 04 is used by a modem, be sure to use a different COM port to
connect to the Remote Base Station. For example, if your modem is using the
Setting IRQ 03 (which corresponds to COM 2), connect the Remote Base Station
to COM 1 (which uses IRQ 04).
