On initial opening of AS-5, or by right-clicking "Test Remote" in the
AudioStation SysTray icon, the "Configure Remote Receiver" window will open.
This utility allows you to configure one of your PC's COM ports (serial ports)
for use with the AudioStation Remote.
Note that in the "Configure" column on the left, under the "Use serial port"
button, the drop down list box shows "COM 1". This is the first serial port,
or "Communications Port (COM 1)".
NO SERIAL PORT ENABLED
----------------------
If no COM ports are listed in the "Configure" column, you may not have any
serial ports enabled on your system. If this is the case, you will need to run
your motherboard's CMOS or BIOS Configuration Utility to enable at least one
COM port (serial port) for use with the Remote. Please refer to the
documentation that came with your system for information on how to change
settings in the motherboard's BIOS.
COM PORT PLUG AND PLAY SETTINGS IN THE BIOS
-------------------------------------------
On a very few systems, if your COM ports are set to the default setting of
AUTO in the "Integrated Peripherals" page in your motherboard's BIOS, the COM
ports will not show up in the Windows Device Manager.
In these systems, check the "PNP/PCI Configuration" page in your BIOS. If
IRQ's 3 and/or 4 are set to "Legacy ISA", that may be your problem. Set these
to PCI/ISA PnP and have your Windows disc ready. The COM ports will be
installed when you boot back into Windows.
Then when you go to the "Test Remote" (Configure Remote Receiver) dialogue
page, the COM port(s) will be listed in the drop down list box. Follow the
onscreen instructions for configuring the COM port for use with the
AudioStation Remote.
