Database for CD Library - Advanced
Q. I am trying to create a clean, error-free MS Access database for my
CD library using AudioStation DBF files. I have succeeded in
       - importing TRACK.DBF, ALBUM.DBF and ARTIST.DBF files into EXCEL,
       - linking them to Access tables, and
       - editing them to correct typos, naming variations, etc.
I need to convert these files back into .DBF files and create new .CDX
    files compatible with AudioStation.

Which .DBF file format is used by AudioStation?
How can I rebuild the .CDX files so AudioStation can use the corrected
    files?

A. Here are two methods:

    1. In order to print the AudioStation contents (non-Atron specific),
from within AudioStation click on 'File' and select 'Print List
Contents'. The program will print the contents of the Library folder
selected from the left pane under 'Library'. If you want to print all
titles, please focus / select 'ALL Tracks' from the left pane.

    2. AudioStation uses a FoxPro compatible format. The easiest way to
manage the index files (.cdx) is to let Access do it and use the Link
Tables function to open the index along with the dbf file.

While it is very simple to link most of the tables into Access,
the critical table TRACK.DBF is not recognized by MS Access
(Office 2000). You can import it into Excel and from there into
Access, but by then you have lost the active link. This means each
time you make a change to in AudioStation, you need to go through
         the import process again.
