1. Launch the Windows mixer by double-clicking on the yellow speaker icon on
your taskbar.
If you do not have one, Click on Start -> Programs -> Accessories ->
Multimedia (or Entertainment in Windows 98) -> Volume Control.
2. Click Options -> Properties.
3. Be sure the mixer is set to playback (the Playback radio button is
selected).
4. Check all boxes in the white section at the bottom.
5. Click [OK].
6. Make sure that no mixer component is Muted.
7. Click Options -> Properties again.
8. Switch to recording by clicking the Recording radio button.
9. Check all the boxes in the white section below for this setting as well.
10. Click [OK].
11. Make sure that the source you are trying to record from (in this case
CD input) is selected in the check box beneath the control, and verify
that the volume is up. (If your mixer displays "Mute" controls beneath
each fader, make sure that only the source you are trying to record
is unmuted. This will vary, depending on your sound card's mixer.)
12. If you still cannot record from the CD player, there may be sound card
driver problems. Contact your computer/sound card manufacturer to
confirm that the sound card is installed properly.
