Q: I have just purchased your AudioSurgeon 5 software today and I am unable
to load audio files that I created & play on my car CD player. The file
extension is .cda, what is the problem & fix?
A: You cannot 'open' an audio CD track directly in AudioSurgeon.
AudioSurgeon is an audio recorder/editor and records from such sources
as Line In, Mic, etc.
Recording (ripping) directly from CDs is most easily accomplished using
CD ripping software such as AudioStation 6 which can be purchased on our
website, http://www.voyetra.com.
However, what you can do is to manually record (as audio) your CD into
AudioSurgeon as your CD is playing back in a CD playback application.
***
In AudioSurgeon, click on Tools>Record Wizard. Select 'Compact Disc'
as your Source.
Start recording in AudioSurgeon and then start your external CD playback
application. Once you finish recording in AudioSurgeon, you can now edit
the audio file to your liking.
Once you are finished with your editing, click on File>Save As.
Then you can save your audio track as a .WMA, .MP3 or .WAV.

Encoding MP3:
This Software includes the MP3 (ACM) Codec which encodes up to 56 kbps.
You can open, play and edit MP3 files (of higher rates) but you can only
Save up to 56 kbps in the MP3 (ACM format) unless you have a 3rd party MP3
Encoding Codec (such as CyberLink) installed on your computer. In this case
you can use the higher Rates that this Codec supports.
CODEC: Is an electronic device (a circuit consisting of an Encoder and
a Decoder) that converts analog signals into digital form and
compresses them to conserve bandwidth on a transmission path.
