AudioStation vs. AudioSurgeon
AudioStation 6 plays back media files and lets you record the tracks from an
Audio CD as a .wav, .mp3 or .wma file. This is called 'ripping' a CD. It does
NOT record audio from a line in, mic, etc. jack. If you are looking to record
audio from a source such as line in, mic, etc. please take a look at
AudioSurgeon.

AudioStation will NOT convert files from one format to another. So it cannot
take a .wav file and make it into an mp3 file. AudioSurgeon can. (*)

So, if there are songs that you have on CDs and you want to listen to them on
an MP3 player, what you need to do is to 'rip' the audio tracks as .mp3 files.
Click on Options > Preferences. In the 'Recording' tab, select MP3 as the
format.

Once you have ripped your audio CD tracks as WMA files, you can then upload
them to a portable device.

Basically, these two programs are complimentary to each other.

You can open, play and edit MP3 files (of higher rates) but you can only
Save up to 56 kbps in the MP3 (ACM format) unless you have a 3rd party MP3
