AudioStation 6 - FAQs

All files and documentation are offered on an *AS IS* basis and you assume full responsibility for using them.
Recording
There are TWO places to indicate storage location. One is the General tab,
the other is the Record tab. In the General tab, you can select the User
Playlist location. Make sure this points to where your playlists actually
reside.

In the Recording tab, that's where the location for Recorded files is
specified. That's different than the playlists.

What you can also do is to import your playlists into AudioStation by
clicking on File > Import User Playlist.

Recording from Line In?
AudioStation 6 doesn't record from such sources as Mixed Output, Line In,
etc. AudioStation 6 only 'rips' a CD. You'd need an audio recording
application such as AudioSurgeon. You can download a free demo of
    AudioSurgeon from our website:
             http://www.voyetra.com/site/products/audiosurgeon/

Recording thru Input Jack - Cassette tapes etc.
Q: Can I record from cassette tape players or other devices with AudioStation
thru the input jack on my computer?

A: AudioStation is not made for this task but AudioSurgeon will do that.

Recording in WAV format?
In AudioStation click on Options > Preferences. In the 'Recording' tab,
make sure you have WAVE selected as the 'Format.' This will rip the
desired CD tracks as wave files.

Record snippets of wav files?
Q: I just downloaded the trial version of AudioStation 6 . I had an earlier
version of AudioStation on my prior PC. I would like to record snippets
or portions of cd tracks as wav files for Windows sound events. Is there
a way to do this on the new version of Audiostation? I looked in the
help section but it only states how to record the whole track, but I
only want portions for sound events on Windows. Can this be done?

A: If you want to record just certain portions, then you'd really want
to take a look at AudioSurgeon instead:

Recording a CD - Convert file:
Q: I bought the AudioSurgeon program to convert MP3 files in wav files
in order to record a CD, but I cant find a clear direction.

A: You do not need to convert an MP3 file into a wave file in order to burn
it onto a CD. You can burn an MP3 file directly because any CD burning
software (AudioSurgeon, AudioStation 6, etc) will convert it to the proper
    CD format (.cda)

If you want to burn multiple MP3 files at once, this is most easily
accomplished with AudioStation 6 available on our website:
           http://www.voyetra.com.
You may download the free demo version of the p[rogram to try it out.

You can burn MP3 files in AudioSurgeon, but you have to open and then burn
each MP3 file one at a time.

Recording a CD - Convert file:
Q: Do I need to convert a .wav file into another type of file in order
to burn it onto an audio CD?'

A: You do not need to convert .wav files in order to burn them onto an
audio CD. If you are using AudioStation 6 to burn your CDs, the wave
files will automatically be burned into the audio CD in the correct
    format (.cda)"

Recording DVDs?
Q: Will the AudioStation 6 record audio from my DVD as it plays a movie?

A: AudioStation 6 will only rip music from music CDs. You may want to take
a look at AudioSurgeon as it will record from such sources as CD, Line In,
    Mic, Mixed Output, etc.

Stereo vs. Mono files:
Q: I have received some mono .wav files and I have been trying put them on
a CD - but for some reason I cannot. Someone told me that it is perhaps
because it is a mono format, and most programs need "stereo wav files"
Do you know how I can accomplish this?

A: You were told correctly that PCM data format and Redbook audio require
    a Stereo file.

Q: Can I record music from MD Discman to PC with your AudioStation?

A: AudioStation does not record from external sources. It only rips CDs from
    the computer's internal CDROM drive.

Send To Multiple CDRW Drives:
Q: When I try to send a file to our CD recorder the wizard says it can not
initialize and it does not list my 2 CDRW drives. Is there anywhere I
can tell AudioStation which drive to use and avoid that problem?

A: AudioStation does not support multiple burners. The "Send To" will address
only one CDR. It supports multiple devices only for Playback or Ripping.
