Delay in Recording tracks
Q: I am operating Orchestrator Pro that I downloaded from your site and am
unfortunately experiencing a huge problem. I am trying to record midi
tracks onto O.P., but after I lay one track down on a channel and attempt
to lay down a second track on a separate channel, I am experiencing severe
lag time between the time that I hit the keys and the time that the sound
is recorded. This is with a state of the art Kurzweil keyboard and a brand
new Pentium 4 computer. Windows XP. What do I do? Please help!

A: The quality of your keyboard is irrelevant if the Sound Card Drivers are
not set up properly. If you are receiving delayed MIDI sound, this is
probably due to the fact that a Soft Synth driver is being used for Midi
Output instead of the Sound Card's driver.

A software synth works by taking control of a sound card's audio
components to create a virtual synthesizer. This greatly slows down things
and creates a delay between the time you press a key on your musical
keyboard until you hear the sound come out of your computer speakers.

To alleviate this, try choosing a different soundcard MIDI output driver
    from within Digital Orchestrator:

In the application, click on Options>MIDI Port Setup. For 'MIDI Output'
you will probably see 'MIDI Mapper'. Click on the words,' MIDI Mapper',
and you will get a dropdown box with other options.

Make sure you are seeing all of your options by using the up and down
arrow keys on your computer keyboard. Try selecting each option that
appears until you are able to hear sound that is not delayed.
