Q: I have a MIDI file which has two notes on the same beat. One is a note
with the duration of 4 beats, the other with one beat. When I view the
musical notation in the Piano Roll Window, the note is not correctly
transcribed (it is transcribed with the duration of 1 beat instead of 4).
A: The issue here is that on the same beat, there are two notes with
different duration. Basically it means that there's two 'voices'
on the same beat that are 'fighting' for a different time duration.
This program offers the added feature of notation as a reference and
it does it pretty well, but it's not a 'dedicated' Notation software
therefore, it does not have advanced Notation features.
If you really need to print out sheet music, more professional looking
with Lyrics, Chord Symbols etc. you might want to take a look at Music
Write Maestro. In this program, you can designate each note as its own
voice and then it will display correctly. MW Maestro can open standard
MIDI files (.mid) and works very well with our Sequencing programs.
