There's a little idiosyncrasy in the piano template in MW2000PE. It will
work fine if you open a new file using the template and you're just entering
notes with your mouse, but if you try to do either step entry or a live
recording, it will lump all of the notes onto the treble clef. If you want to
use the piano template to do live or step entry recordings, follow the steps
below:
1) Open a new file. Go to Display > Track. Look for "Split Track", and in
the list box to the right of it select "Yes".
2) Open the Comments window. Type "Piano" (you don't have to hit enter – just
leave the cursor at the end of the word).
3) Go to File > Save As. Browse to the folder:
C:\Program Files\Voyetra\Music Write 2000 Professional Edition\Templs.
(NOTE: This is the default directory. The file path will be different
if you installed the software to a custom directory.)
Click on the file Piano and click OK. You will be asked if you want to
overwrite the former version of Piano with a new one, so click yes.
4) To test it out, go to File > New. Choose "Use Template", select the Piano
template, and begin either a step entry or live recording. The left and
right hand notes should now appear in their respective staves.
