MWP - Using your old .PBL (MusicWritePlus) files

an *AS IS* basis. It is not supported by our Technical Support staff.

Your old files saved in .PBL (native Music Write Plus) format may be used
with the following Music Write programs:
    MW 2000 Standard
    MW 2000 Professional
    MW Songwriter
    MW Maestro
All you need to do is change the file format from .pbl to .mid.

Here's how:

  - From within the MW Plus program open the file you need to use.
  - Click on File > Save As and change the default .pbl to .mid.
  - Name your file and click OK.

Once you have converted your .PBL to .MID you can then open it in
any program that will read standard MIDI files. This includes our later
"Music Write" series of Notation programs.

                              *************

MW Plus is not supported in new Systems running Win 2000, Win XP or later.
If throughout the years you have invested a lot of valuable time creating
PBL files that are important to you, you should do this before upgrading
your system to XP or any other OS that is not supported by MW Plus. Once
you migrate to the new OS, it is too late to Save your PBL files as MIDI
files, since you cannot install this program onto new platforms.

If you failed to this 'beforehand' the only other option would be to
re-install MW Plus in a different System that runs Win 95 or Win 98
and do the conversion from there.
