Odd Time Signatures:
Q: Will the "Music Write" programs do Odd Time Signatures such as:
9/8, 7/8, 12/8, 5/4 etc.
A: Odd Time Signatures are not supported in this line of Software. Such
features might be available in more pricey software. As for the 12/8
Time Signature, only "MW Maestro" supports it.
Odd Time Signatures are those where the 'Numerator' top part of
the fraction is an ODD number such as: 5/4, 7/8, 9/8, 11/8, etc.
with the exception of 3/4 (Waltz).

Transcription in Real Time:
Q: I cannot play the keys and see the music transcribed on the screen in
real time. What am I doing wrong? View transcribe - views save midi
file but does not show as you record and play the music.
A: This software does not transcribe in real time. Most software doesn't.
You record from your keyboard, then click on the Transcribe button,
then see the sheet music.

4 Parts on a single staff:
Q: I want to enter a 4-part song on a single staff, in treble clef, true
pitch, whatever key. Then I want the program to split the song to 4
staves, transpose each staff for a specific (wood or brass) wind
instrument or string instrument with the appropriate instrument pitch
and key signature. Which version of MW do I need?
A: With our Music Write software, you cannot enter 4 parts on a single staff
and then have it split into 4 staves. The only thing you can do is to
notate two parts on a grand staff and have it split into two separate
tracks.

Q: I want to be able to notate virtually any piece of existing music and
save it in MIDI type "0" format, so I will be able to play it on my MIDI
keyboard, which recognizes only SMF type "0" file format. Will I be able
to achieve this with the Music Write series programs?
A: All these programs have similar features, but the Maestro allows the
most flexibility as far as notation is concerned. Producing accurate
notation to be printed and read however, is sometimes different than
producing a sequence to be played back, in that some of the notation
functions are not "MIDI information".
This means that not all symbols, marks, etc. are saved into the MIDI
format - these are proprietary to the application's file format, *.MWK.
Whatever is saved in a type 0 MIDI file will be played back (since this
is a standardized format), but program information will not be "embedded"
into the MIDI file. Repeats, for example, would have to actually be
sequenced so that the part appears twice on the score.

Multi-bar rest feature:
Q: I have several measures of rest which I would like to combine into a
multi-measure rest bar to save space. I can't figure out how to do this.
Is it possible, and if so, how do you do it.
A: Only "MW Maestro" offers a multi-bar rest feature.

Q: Using Kurzweil 2500 keyboard (MIDI cable to USB) and this works with
one problem. It seems the program cannot support Kurzweil sounds. Example:
keyboard indicates string patch but software produces a slap bass sound.
I've run keyboard straight through to line input and the computer
soundcard products the exact sound. So that's not it. What I want is for
whatever keyboard patch I select, that's the sound reproduced through
your software. How do I get there?
A: The Music Write programs (or Notation programs in general) do not have
any 'MIDI sounds' in them. Your computer's soundcard is what is playing
back the MIDI data recorded from your MIDI keyboard. Music Write simply
records the MIDI data from your keyboard. Then you can send the recorded
MIDI data to either your soundcard or your MIDI keyboard to play back.
In order to send the MIDI data to your MIDI keyboard to play back, goto
Options>MIDI Port Setup. Set your MIDI Output Device to the same driver
as shows up for MIDI Input.

Breath Marks:
Q: When I put in breath marks, they only show up over the notes not between
the notes. How do I fix this? I need to do this to make the music look
the way I want.
A: You can only put breath mark symbols above the notes, not between them.
Perhaps other software for a couple of hundred dollars (Finale, etc.)
might offer that feature.

Sextuplets:
Q: How can make sextuplets with this program? It is not dealt with in the
manual or the Help menu.
A: The reason it was not dealt with in any documentation is because this
Feature is not supported. Our Music Write series of programs do not
do Sextuplets. Perhaps more expensive software like Finale might do it.
