VISTA INSTALLATION TIP FOR Video Advantage PCI/ADX
Even though the User Guide instructs you to first run the SETUP from the
Installation CD, power down and THEN install the VA-PCI card, we have found
that - in Vista at least - it is better to first insert the VA-PCI card in its
PCI slot, then boot up the system and cancel out of any driver installation
dialogs that appear, and finally install the VA-PCI/ADX driver from the
Installation CD.
To clarify - PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW Windows Update to choose and install a driver
for the VA-PCI/ADX! It will ALWAYS choose the incorrect driver.
Once the system has booted to the Desktop and is no longer offering to install
anything, insert the Video Advantage PCI/ADX Installation CD in your CD/DVD
drive and run the installation. Running the CD will then install the correct
driver, labelled specifically as Video Advantage PCI/ADX.
