Software or Hardware Video Capture (Encoding):
Q: Does Video Advantage have hardware MPEG2 capture? hardware MPEG2
encoding (i.e., a dedicated MPEG2 encoding chip - which one)?"

A: If you capture directly to .avi it will be hardware encoded.
However, all compressed formats will be software encoded.
    - The Video Advantage PCI & ADX use the Conexant chipset
    - The Video Advantage USB has a Crescentec chipset.

Q: Does your Video Advantage support Stereo video capture?

A: If you are referring to the Audio signal captured along with the Video,
    yes it does.

Back-up DVDs?
Q: Can one use a DVD player as an input device to backup/copy my DVDs?

A: A DVD player will not burn DVDs if it does not have this feature built
into the player. The Video Advantage does not output video.
The Video Advantage will capture video from any source and burn it
to a DVD. Consumers must adhere to any Copyright Laws when doing so.

DVD Burner? Do I need one?
Q: I was looking under the "What do I need" page and the following was
    listed:
          - A compatible DVD burner for creating DVDs
(or CD-R for creating SVCDs and VCDs)
Why do I need a "compatible DVD burner if the Video Advantage
will capture video from any source and burn it to a DVD?

A: If you don't have a DVD burner on your PC, it simply can't burn
it to a DVD. Think of it this way: In order to bake a pie you
    need an oven.

Audio Cassette tapes to CD discs?
Q: Does the product offer the capability of converting analog sound
    cassette tapes to CD discs?

A: This is a video capture product. It will capture video and your sound
card will capture the audio. If you just need to record from cassettes
to make CDs out of them, then you just need a sound card with a Line
Input and recording software like our AudioSurgeon.

Features:
Q: I am looking for an inexpensive way to capture VHS analogue to mpeg-2
for dvd video. I am looking to be able to adjust the resolution (352X480
or 720X480), only plan on using interlaced video (I understand some cards
or software may be fixed on de-interlacing), set VBR (as opposed to CBR),
    close GOP's and use 1I 2P 2B. Oh yeah, can't forget the audio, 256k 48khz
16 bit stereo, pcm or ac3. Will this capture device and the bundled
software support my needs? What do you recommend if it doesn't?

A: Our software bundle will do all the features you requested except
capture AC3. Your sound card will do the audio capturing.

Composite Out to VHS:
Q: I have a lot of old-fashioned VHS Video Tapes that I want to bring into
the "Video Advantage, Edit them and then Output them back to VHS through
a Composite Video Output or S-Video. Can this be done?

A: There is no Output for VHS on the Video Advantage. The reason being that
nowadays DVDs are cheaper than VHS and VHS is soon becoming obsolete.
What you can do after Editing is burn the finished product as a DVD
or have your Video Card send it out to an external source.

                       *****************************

Re-rendering:
Q: Does the software shipped with your product allow "cutting" and "joining"
of MPEG2 files without re-rendering (takes lots of time and degrades
    quality)?

A: The Software will re-render the new file.

                       *****************************

Microsoft Media Center compatibility:
This is new Technology just being implemented. Preliminary testing
has shown basic compatibility, however, this Technology is not
    officially supported as of yet.
