Headphones > Speakers Options:
  Besides using the headphone option, you have the choice of selecting either
  speakers or S/PDIF (for external sound systems). Headphone use is where you
  really notice the difference in quality. Remember that contrary to what most
  people think, this external sound card does nothing for your "on-board" 
  laptop speakers. You must use either Powered Speakers or Headphones.

DVD Setup:
  Before listening to a concert DVD, go into your computer's sound Properties 
  and made sure it was set for "DVD" quality (48 kHz), which did improve the 
  sound. Of course, the higher quality the head phones, the better the sound
  experience. We recommend the Ear Force HPA2 for best sound quality.

Sound Environment Options:
  You have quite a few options, when it comes to setting the sound environment
  such as, Concert Hall, Auditorium, Living Room, Padded Cell, Hallway, 
  in fact over two dozen choices.

Graphic Equalizer:
  There is a ten-bar graphic equalizer with eight pre-set choices: 
  (Bass Boost, Jazz, Rock environments, etc.), or you are free to set each 
  band yourself and save those settings for easy retrieval. You can set the 
  sound direction. When using headphones, the main directions you experience
  are left, top-of-the-head, or from the right. You can even set those
  controls to a random setting, which will "float" the sound randomly from 
  different directions.

Turn On The Sound Device: 
  After plugging in the USB sound card and connecting your headphones or
  external Powered Speakers into it, before opening your music, you must 
  turn on the card by clicking on the icon in the tray at the bottom of your
  screen.

Connections - Plugging & Unplugging:
  Try to use the same USB Port so that you do not need to reinstall drivers. 
  The card comes with a short USB connector wire and an S/PDIF plug, but 
  not the S/PDIF wire connection itself. We recommend using the USB connector
  wire (do not use a USB 2.0 hub) instead of feeding the Micro directly into a
  USB port, simply because of possibly damaging the unit if you bump into it. 
  It's recommended that you close out the program you were using to listen
  to your DVD/CD before ejecting the Micro from the USB port.
