The AK-R8 combo package consists of two items:
- The HPA2 surround Headset
- The USB audio interface (AA_SRM)
The SRM is a Windows device that requires driver installation for proper use.
Before connecting the SRM to your computer's USB Port, please make sure that
you first run the Setup program on the Installation CD. The install will
prompt you when to connect to the USB port. When the Unsigned driver message
appears, select "continue anyway".

KNOWN COMPATIBILITY ISSUES:
- Vista 64-bit and Mac OS platforms not supported

- Logitech G15 gaming keyboard error: "USB Controller Bandwidth Exceeded"

TROUBLESHOOTING:
1) We recommend connecting directly onto a Computer USB Port not to a USB Hub.

2) If you experience any issues, please try a different USB port, preferably
at the back of the computer (if available).

3) If you experience any issues and you have connected any other USB-connected
devices, please disconnect them to see if the problem goes away. Then, try
connecting them one at a time until you find the 'culprit'. The same
applies to the SRM Mic not being detected by VoiP programs.

4) Turn off any non-essential applications running in the background that
   deplete system resources.

5) It is important that you update the Drivers of a built-on sound system
and video display adapter (PCIe, AGP or built-in) to the latest available
version, usually available from the manufacturer's website.

6) If you experience poor audio performance on Laptops, look at your Power
settings in the Windows Control Panel. It is probably set to a "Power
Efficiency" mode. Set it to "Best Performance" "High Performance"
   (or similar).

7) VoiP programs such as 'Skype' 'Ventrilo' 'TeamSpeak' 'Windows Messenger'
may change the microphone settings. If you set these programs as follows:
"Let 'Skype' adjust my sound device settings" they can change your settings
and assign as default other preferred devices, such as a Video Camera Mic,
resulting in the SRM Mic not working.

Here is how to ensure that the Windows Mixer is properly configured for Mic:
WINDOWS XP:
a) If there are more than one Sound Devices in the system including built-on:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio tab
Under *Recording* make sure that you show as the *preferred device* the
   device you want to use.

b) - Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control
   - From the Options tab Properties > Select Recording
   - Under "Show the following volume controls" make sure that Microphone
     is checked
   - Click OK
   - Make sure that Microphone is Selected
This can also be set from the Turtle Beach Control Panel.

c) - Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control
   - From the Options tab Properties > Select Playback
   - Under "Show the following volume controls" make sure that Microphone
     is checked
   - Click OK
   - Make sure that Microphone "Mute" is NOT checked
This can also be set from the Turtle Beach Control Panel.

WINDOWS VISTA:
Start > Control Panel > Sound > Recording > Under Microphone select SRM
Device > Click on "Set Default". The rest of the devices will then display:
   "Unavailable".
