Q: Can the HPA2 5.1 headphones be hooked up to an xbox 360 and if so how?
I am really interested in purchasing a pair as I love the 5.1 Surround.
A: The HPA1 & HPA2 and the X52 do not support the Xbox. They are designed
to work with your 5.1 computer sound card. However, they may be used with
the Xbox for Stereo listening only (No Live chat). The fact that they
support 5.1 Surround, does not imply that any 2-channel source may be
'converted' to 5.1 Surround.

HPA & iPod:
Q: Can I use them with an iPod?
A: Yes you could in two channel mode but not in Surround.
******************************
Q: I was wondering if the HPA would work with the onboard sound card or will
I need a special card?
A: Our Ear Force HPA Headphones should work with any standard Sound Card
(stand-alone or built-on chipset). If the Sound Card offers only Stereo
Outputs, it will function as a Stereo Headphones set. If the Sound Card
offers multiple audio channels (Multichannel 5.1) the Headphones will
take advantage of this feature and deliver Multichannel Sound as opposed
to just Stereo.
Bottom line, you should be able to use the HPA headphones with any
high-quality soundcard that offers 3.5mm mini-phone jack outputs
for FRONT, SURROUND, CENTER and SUBWOOFER (LFE). Of course, the headphones
will work best with our Turtle Beach Montego DDL!
******************************
Q: Do these various Headphone models have the same size ear cups?
A: There are about 12 Headphone models and each one is different.
******************************
Q: How much does the headset weigh?
A: Total Weight with the cables and adapters: each one is at about 2 Lbs.
The total package shipping weight for the HPA is about 3 Lbs.
******************************
Q: What kind of material is the part that touches your ears? If it is vinyl,
cloth it would be more comfortable because it "breathes". Is there a
replacement available that has cloth as the material?
A: HPA:
The material that covers the perimeter (ring) of the cushion is made
of soft vinyl, inside which is the foam material that provided
padding. Unfortunately, there is no replacement with cloth material.
HPA2:
The material is 1/2" thick cushion-type cloth.
******************************
Q: Does the HPA also use a 9 pin DIN plug for the headphones?
A: Yes it does.
******************************
Q: Can you use the headset from one with the other? (HPA > X51 > X52)
A: Yes you can. Of course the sound quality offered by the HPA in-line
amplifier is superior to the one from the X-51 or X-52 since it is active.
******************************
Q: Can you "upgrade" the X-51 by buying the amplifier/plugs for the HPA?
A: Yes, we have this part in stock on our Web Site under X-51 accessories.
******************************
Q: The HPA come with a splitter cable for speakers, does the X-51 also
include this?
A: Yes the X-51 also includes this but although the connectors are the same,
the control adapter is different.
******************************
Batteries:
Q: I would like to know what type of batteries this headphone uses:
A: The HPA does not use any batteries. In order to Power the included
Amplifier / Controller, it uses a Power Adapter that connects to the
wall.

Q: I find the HPA headphones very interesting. The challenge I have is to
find 5.1 headphones to watch movies and not disturb the rest of the house.
I have a home theater and wonder if there is a way to get the optical out
of a DVD player to the HPA headphones not using a computer.
I love the separate control of the channels and volume control. How long
are the cable sets that come with the HPA and do you make an extension?
A: The problem with connecting the HPA headphones to a DVD player or home
theater system is that the 5.1 data stream needs to be decoded to 6 analog
audio outputs, which need enough amplification to drive the headphones.
This is accomplished when playing a DVD in your computer, decoded in a
software player like WinDVD or PowerDVD, sent to a soundcard with 6 analog
outs configured for surround and finally to the six inputs of the HPA
amplified headphones.
The headphone jack of a typical home theater receiver/amplifier will be
stereo (2-channel). The EarForce HPA cable is 12 feet long in total.
