DirectX is Microsoft's set of standardized Application Programming Interface
(API) for games and other multimedia applications, including DirectDraw,
Direct3D, DirectSound. It allows Windows based software to access the advanced
features of audio and video hardware. 

Without DirectX, the Montego series sound cards will not function properly.
We recommend updating DirectX to the latest version available from Microsoft.

* If you are using an earlier version of Windows 95, your system may not have 
  DirectX installed. 
* Windows 98 includes DirectX. 
* Windows NT 4.0 requires Service Pack 3 to be installed for DirectX. 

The minimum requirement for the Montego A3D is DirectX 5. This version is
included on the Montego A3D Applications CD. 

The minimum requirement for the Montego II is DirectX 6. This version is
included on the Montego II Applications CD.
