The Montego II, like all soundcards with AC97-compliant codec architecture,
is designed to either record from one, single input at a time or to use
a Stereo Mixer input that allows recording from a "mix" of inputs.
To record the Line In and Mic In simultaneously using the Montego II
PC Audio Mixer:
1. Open the PC Mixer by clicking Start | Programs | Montego II Home Studio |
PC Audio Mixer.
2. The lower area of the PC Audio Mixer holds the Record controls. Locate
the Stereo Mixer Input.
3. To the lower right of the Stereo Mixer Input is a little red button.
This is the Record Select button. Click on it and the button should turn
bright red. Now all the various inputs and their volume controls are
active and you will be able to record from any or all of them.
For those inputs that you want to record, raise the volume.
For those inputs that you do not want to record, lower their volume faders
all the way down.
To record the Line In and Mic In simultaneously using the Windows Mixer:
1. In the System Tray, double-click on the Mixer icon (yellow speaker).
2. Click Options | Properties | Recording.
3. Click [OK]. (This is the Recording portion of the mixer.)
4. Select the Stereo Mixer by checking its box at the bottom of the
volume slider.
5. Adjust the slider to the desired recording level.
* NOTE:
If you record through the Mic and Line In on to a stereo pair of tracks
in Digital Orchestrator Pro (or a similar multitrack audio program)
the levels of the individual parts will be 'set in stone'. No 're-mixing'
will be possible.

WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!!
-----------
Extreme caution should be exercised not to Overload the Sound Card's Input by
a loud External signal. Even a millisecond brief "spike" can render the board
useless. A lot of people these days are using External sources to input the
signal onto their Sound Card, unfortunately, without having any basic Audio
knowledge. Damaging a board in this fashion is a USER ERROR that is not
covered by any Warranty.
