AudioView 32 - Optimizing (step by step)
NOTE:
-----
Other applications may use the TMP folder as a temporary storage area. Check
the available free space on the drive where you plan to store your TMP files
before you make any changes. This change will not alter the performance of
these other programs.

1. The first step for optimizing Audio View 32 is to create a directory
(folder) on the desired drive. Our example is 'E:\Audio'. Create this
folder in the desired location in Windows Explorer or My Computer.

2. The next step is to open Audio View 32 and change its Preferences.
   File > Preferences

3. Select the EDIT tab. In the Temp Directory field, type in the same drive
   and folder you created previously.

EXAMPLE:

If you created 'E:\Audio', then in Audio View 32's Temp Directory,
type 'E:\Audio'.

The next steps involve changing some Windows settings. Please follow
the instructions for the specific version of Windows that you are using.

WINDOWS 95/98
-------------
A. In Windows 9x, you will need to edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
Click on the Start button and choose Run...

B. In the space provided, type SYSEDIT and press the enter key.

C. This will bring up the System Configuration Editor.
The System Configuration Editor contains several 'cascaded' windows.

The window in the foreground will be AUTOEXEC.BAT:

After the last line of AUTOEXEC.BAT, type in the line

     SET TMP=X:\

where "X" is the drive and folder you want Audio View to record to.

Again, in our example we are using E:\Audio, but this can be any drive
   and directory you choose.

D. Once this has been entered, save your changes

     File > Save

Then exit by pressing the X at the top right corner of the
   System Configuration Editor window.

WINDOWS NT
----------
Again, after creating a directory, and changing the preferences
in Audio View 32, you need to set the TMP directory in Windows.

A. Do this by going to the Control Panel:

Start > Settings > Control Panel

B. Once in Control Panel, open the System program by double clicking
   on the System icon:

This will bring up the System Properties window:

C. Once in the System Properties, click on the Environment tab.
At the lower portion of the Environment window, you will see
   'User Variables for...'.

If there is no entry for TMP, simply type 'TMP' in the space
provided marked Variable, and enter the drive and folder
(directory) location in the space marked Value.

If a TMP is already set, change the Value by selecting TMP in
the User Variable window, and type the new drive and folder in
   the space provided for Value.

D. Once you are finished, press the Apply button, then OK.
