Error: "Unknown PCI Device"

If Windows encounters a problem installing your soundcard due to an "unknown"
or "other" device, here are the possible solutions.

If in the Device Manager you have a yellow question mark displayed with a
yellow exclamation point,

You may have either removed a card from your computer while the Windows OS was
still active, or you have some sort of on-board device that Windows can not
recognize such as built-in sound or video.

If you recently removed an expansion card of some type, whether it was a SCSI
card or a sound card, and the computer wasn't shut down properly;
a "signature" of sorts is left in Windows. This "signature" may prohibit you
from adding new hardware simply because the resources will not be available.
If this is the case, you need to:

1. Properly shut down your computer and unplug it.
2. Remove the expansion card you were trying to install (if you got that far).
3. Insert the expansion card you removed before, in the exact same slot
   you removed it from.
4. Reboot into Windows.
5. Open the Device Manager:
(Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager)
6. Remove the Unknown or Other device.
7. Shut Windows and turn off your computer – Remove the power cord.
8. Take the expansion card out.
9. Reboot into Windows.
10. Shut down and install the card you want to install.

If you have an On-board device, you need to:

1. Enable the device in the Bios.
2. Boot into Windows.
3. Remove the device from the Device Manager or by running its Uninstaller
   program.
(Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager)
4. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS.
5. Disable whatever On-board device it was that caused the conflict.
6. Reboot.

You should now be good to go!!!
