Win 2k / XP - ACPI and IRQ Resource Conflicts 
The Montego series of sound cards are not supported in Win 2K or Win XP.
The following instructions are offered on an "AS IS" basis, as a courtesy 
to our customers.

Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) computers will allow several
devices to share one interrupt (IRQ settings) in Windows 2000/XP. Although
this will conserve interrupts, in some cases it may decrease the performance 
of devices.  If your sound card is sharing an interrupt with several other 
devices, you may experience poor audio playback or computer lock-ups. 

If your mainboard supports ACPI, follow these steps to confirm if this is
enabled:

  - Start > Settings > Control Panel > System 
  - Click the Hardware tab
  - Click the Device Manager tab
  - Click View on the menu bar
  - Select Devices by Type
  - In the list of Device types, double-click Computer

If your computer is ACPI enabled, it will be identified as one of the 
following:

  - ACPI Multiprocessor PC
  - ACPI Uniprocessor PC
  - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC

If ACPI does not properly allocate resources, you may want to disable ACPI.
When ACPI is disabled, Win 2k/XP will use support for Standard PC. This
allows more user control over resource allocation. 


Tips for ADVANCED USERS ONLY:

1. First disable the ACPI on the mainboard. This option is typically found 
   in the BIOS setup, consult your documentation for assistance. Next, 
   switch Windows from ACPI to Standard PC support, you will need to reinstall
   Win 2k/XP with the 'Repair option'

2. Run Win 2k/XP setup. At the beginning of text-mode setup ignore the prompt 
   to press F6 to install third party SCSI & Raid storage drivers: press 
   F5 instead and select Standard PC from the menu. Win 2k/XP will install all
   the devices with no conflicts. 
   
   ACPI support is still in the BIOS if needed but it's disabled in Win 2k/XP.
