UPDATE:
Please note that Microsoft no longer supports Windows 98 or Windows ME
(Millennium). Some of the Microsoft links may no longer be accessible.
Although the package might list these Windows as Supported platforms,
Turtle Beach does not support them anymore.

Q: I've partially installed the product on my laptop which has Windows 98
installed. It appears that the driver for the "Turtle Beach USB 1x1"
device is missing.
So far, during every attempt at full installation of the product, an error
message is displayed informing me that a "driver is needed for Turtle
Beach USB MIDI 1x1". I've even tried the download from your web site.
Same result. No driver for Turtle Beach USB MIDI 1x1 found.
The Microsoft web site does not have a driver for the Turtle Beach USB
MIDI 1x1 device either. Neither is there a driver on the Windows 98 CD.
My system does, in fact, recognize the USB cable as a "new device", but
it needs a driver for the device. Thank you.
A: USB driver installation for Windows 98:
In order to install the proper Windows USB support files which are needed
for the Turtle Beach USB MIDI cable, you do need to have an actual
Microsoft Windows 98 CD (not a restore CD).
If you do not have a Windows 98 CD or the drivers aren't found on the
Windows 98 CD during the installation of the cable, Download from our
FTP Download Files Area the "winusb.zip" file which includes the Windows
98 USB support files.
Unzip these files to a directory like 'My Documents' etc. You will need
some 3rd party unzipping software such as Winzip (www.winzip.com) in
order to unzip these files.
Then follow these instructions to install the Turtle Beach USB MIDI
cable:
1. Run the Turtle Beach USB MIDI cable installation. Make sure the USB
MIDI cable is NOT plugged in.
2. During the installation, you will be prompted to plug in the cable.
You will then get a Windows hardware installer pop up screen which
will install a USB composite device. Do not cancel this window.
Click on 'Next'
3. During this USB composite device driver installation, it will look
for certain driver files such as usb.ini, hiddev.inf, hidclass.sys,
hidusb.sys and hidparse.sys. You will just need to browse to the
directory where you unzipped those files to.
4. Continue installing the drivers and when it's finished it should
recognize your Turtle Beach USB MIDI cable.
*** If no USB MIDI devices are found, unplug the cable and reboot your
computer. Then repeat the numbered steps above.
