MIDI Input problem - No MIDI In 
PROBLEM: 
    No MIDI In - Sound Card fails to recognize your MIDI In signal.

SYMPTOM: 
    Cannot play external MIDI keyboard through the Computer. Cannot Record.

EXPLANATION: 
    The failure of a system to recognize an incoming MIDI signal is a 
    HARDWARE related problem, not software. It has to do with the Sound 
    Card and not the software that is trying to use the MIDI In or Out 
    of the Sound Card Driver.

RESOLUTION:  
1.  Is your computer's "MIDI In" cable connected to your keyboard's 
    "MIDI Out" port? Conversely, the "MIDI Out" should be connected 
    to the "MIDI In".  This is a common mistake, as most users match 
    the "MIDI In" with "MIDI In" and "MIDI Out" with "MIDI Out". 
    This is WRONG! 

2.  Is your soundcard configured to receive a MIDI In signal?  You must
    have the correct MIDI drivers installed for your particular soundcard.
    If the currently installed soundcard drivers are not the proper ones 
    or are not installed / setup properly, you will not get MIDI Input. 
    To determine this, please consult your Sound Card's documentation 
    and sound card manufacturer. 

3.  Most Sound Cards that are built on the motherboard, usually do NOT have 
    a REAL driver capable of handling MIDI In. In these cases, there is no 
    Driver listed that can be selected as a MIDI Input, from the program's
    "MIDI Port Setup" section. The only solution to this may be purchasing
    a stand-alone Sound Card that is capable of handling MIDI.
    
4.  Is your musical keyboard properly configured to transmit a MIDI signal?
    There are various Advanced Settings on a MIDI Keyboard like OMNI Mode, 
    various Channels for MIDI Send & Receive etc. that if not set properly,
    may hinder the MIDI signal from passing through. Since every keyboard 
    is different and there are thousands of models out there, please consult
    with your keyboard's owner's manual for further assistance on this.
