This card (as is the case with all consumer level AC-97 cards) can output
only in AC-3 or PCM formats. Dolby Digital Live (DDL) will be sent as AC-3. 
This is because it is a Dolby Digital format for PC Games. The decoder must 
be able to decode DDL. 

If not playing AC-3 encoded digital audio (Dolby Digital, DTS, DDL, etc.) and
not specifically set up to output AC-3, the Micro's Digital Out will send PCM 
data (the default).
