Q: I recently purchased the Montego DDL, and a set of 6.1 Surround Sound
Speakers. I was wondering the best way to set up the 6.1 speakers with
the Montego DDL, do I install them normally, or do I connect them as 5.1?
    Thank you very much.

A: You would connect the speakers to the Montego DDL as 5.1.

Connections - TV Connection into the Sound Card:
Q: I would like to input the sound from my RCA cables coming from the T.V.
into the card and then output the signal through the digital optical
output cable into my Klipsch speakers. Is it possible to perform this
conversion and will the conversion up sample the audio from the T.V. into
a quasi 5.1 surround sound of in stereo.

A: - Connect the TV Out to the Line In on the card
    - Open the Sound Card's Control Panel and click on the Record tab
    - Select the Line In as the recording source
    - Click on the Digital Out tab and enable digital out
    - Select Loop Back Record in to S/PDIF Out

The output will not be 5.1. There is no 5.1 information going in.
It will be 2 channel stereo (PCM).

                                   ***

NOTE: Depending on the TV you might need a Pre-Amp or Mixer to fine tune
the signal between the TV and your Sound Card. Please be extremely
careful when connecting external devices to your Card. It is very
easy to 'fry' your Card (Not Supported By Any Warranty) if you do
not have a good foundation on Stereo components and Audio in
          general.

Q: I was wondering if its possible for me to play my TV audio through the
speakers that connect to my Sound Card. Is it possible for me to run a
line from the line out on my TV to the Line IN on the sound card?? Or is
there any other way to do that? Thank you very much

A: If you have line outs from your TV, you can run them directly into the
line in of the Montego DDL and play the audio from your TV through your
computer speakers. Depending on the configuration of your TV's audio
outputs, you may need a stereo 1/8" male to RCA "Y" cord to connect the
    two devices.

Speakers Setup:
Q: For speakers I have Cambridge SoundWorks DTT3500, which is 5.1 surround.
The speakers are a few years old, but have a digital decoder. However,
in order to utilize all of the speakers I must be able to receive digital
sound, which I was unable to on my old soundblaster card, the center
speaker did not have any sound come out of it. The decoder has dolby
digital inputs – coaxial, optical, and digital – as well as multi-channel
inputs – front and rear, which are analog.

I am confused as how to connect my speakers correctly to the turtle beach
sound card in order to get digital sound, since using an optical cable
does not work. Currently I am plugged into the multi channel inputs and
I want to know if there is any way I will be able to have digital surround
sound instead of analog, aside from having to buy a whole set of new
    speakers.

A: In order to connect your speakers to the Montego DDL:
    - Attach one end of the optical cable to the S/PDIF out of the Montego
DDL (this is the optical connection closest to the Line In (blue jack)
on the Montego DDL sound card.

    - Attach the other end of the cable to the optical in on your decoder.

    - Set the input type for the speaker system itself. There are options
for which input you are using:
(digital 9 pin din, optical in, coax in, analog, etc.)

    - It's always a good idea to have a look at the user's guide for the
speaker system to make sure that you have that end of the signal chain
set up correctly to receive sound via the optical input of the decoder.

    - As far as the sound card goes, you only need to have it set to either
S/PDIF Out 44.1, 48 or 96, depending on which sample rate your decoder
uses. When in S/PDIF, the speaker mode will always revert to 2 speakers
since you can only monitor S/PDIF via 2 analog (L&R) speakers. You
would use the DDL 5.1 Encoding setting if you wish to listen to an .mp3
file or CD as a 5.1 audio source.

    - For playing back DVDs select 44.1kHz or 48kHz depending on your
decoder. If you select DDL 5.1 Encoding click on Effects and click the
Enable button under the Speaker Positioning heading.

Q: I am rebuilding because I was having nasty problems with my system. I am
using an ATI all in Wonder X600 connecting my system to the TV. Should I
be able to use the Optical out from your card to my Bose Lifestyle 35
system to get full audio? The Bose has optical in that I can set for one
of my Home Theater functions. My goal is to hear music, TV audio, Games,
    etc.

A: If you are connecting your speakers to the Line IN of the sound card, you
will receive no audio playback. Please connect the speakers to the front
out and this will solve the problem that you are experiencing. You should
experience no problem connecting the optical output to the optical input
of your Bose speakers. Please make sure that your speakers contain a
decoder if you are planning to use the sound card to output Dolby Digital
or DTS info as the sound card will not decode any of this info. It will
act strictly as a pass through for the digital audio stream. Also, if you
have the option of changing sample rates on your speakers, please make
sure that the sample rate on the speakers matches the sample rate being
    sent from the sound card.
