Revisions of the Pinnacle board
Rev. F Pinnacle board
---------------------
Rev. F is the final "production" version of the Pinnacle. It is also part of
the Pinnacle Project Studio package.

Among other enhancements, the Rev. F board can INTERNALLY record the Kurzweil
MA-1 synth output as a WAV (Digital Synth) input at 44.1 kHz in addition to
the 48 kHz playback rate that all Pinnacles can do. All pre-Rev. F boards can
record the internal (MA-1 Synth) EXTERNALLY via a loop-back (1/8" to 1/8")
cable (analog realm).

The Rev. F board, has 12K PRAM per the original Kurzweil engine design.

Refurbished 200K Pinnacle board
-------------------------------
After the release of the Rev F board, VTB collaborated with Kurzweil and in
November of 1998, finalized the design of a custom modified board that
increases the internal 12K Patch RAM to 200K.

This feature is quite useful ONLY if one wants to EXTENSIVELY use the
Pinnacle's Kurzweil MA-1 synth chip as a MIDI sampler. If you are not
interested in the sampling features of the Pinnacle, the refurbished 200K
will NOT offer any improvements to you.

The refurbished 200K Pinnacle is NOT a modified Rev. F Pinnacle. It is a
pre-Rev. F board, modified so that it is brought up to Rev. F functionality
plus the 200K PRAM upgrade. Therefore, it is stamped Rev. C, D, or E but
not F. In essence, although the Rev. stamped on its face is "lower" than
Rev. F, it is technologically more advanced and superior to the Rev. F
board (at least as far as sampling is concerned).

The only feature missing from this Rev. is the muting circuitry which is one
of the "native" Rev. F enhancements. What this means to you, is that this
(refurbished) board may or may not produce the popping noise when the system
boots up. This will not present a problem, if you lower your speakers or
sound system until the system boots up. (This is true of any hi-fi gear - in
the audio chain, always turn on the power amp last and shut it down first.)

This upgrade was only available for a limited time direct from VTB.
It is still available as a stand-alone product for a limited time only.
