1) The CD Audio Input is muted automatically when a plug is inserted into
the Line Input (this feature helps reduce noise while recording from the
Line In). Check the Line Input on the back of the sound card to see if
anything is plugged in.
2) If there is nothing plugged in, check that the CD audio cable is
connecting the CD-ROM drive and the sound card. It is a skinny wire
with a 4-pin connector. The connector on the Pinnacle sound card has
the following pinout: Left, Ground, Ground, Right
The right or red wire should be closest to the metal bracket.
3) In the audio mixer, please make sure that you have the Line In/CD
selected as a record source and that the Input Monitor in the playback
section is up and not muted.
4) Example:
a) Open TBS Pro Audio -> Audio Mixer
b) Note the Line In/CD slider is in the bottom row. Make sure that the
small button with the red triangle is illuminated (this indicates it
is selected).
c) Bring up the slider and you should see the meters respond to the CD
audio that is playing.
d) If you don't hear anything, bring up the Input Monitor slider in the
top row and make sure the button with the small blue triangle on it
is not lit. If it is, that indicates it is muted. Click it again to
unmute it.
e) You'll note that the meters by the Input Monitor now relect the level
of the CD audio.
f) Finally, make sure the Main slider is up and not muted.
