GENERAL
* The Kurzweil driver will not function until the Pinnacle Audio driver is
installed and functional. Install the Pinnacle Audio driver "TBS Pro
Series Digital Audio".
RESOURCE CONFLICT
* IRQ: The most common resource to conflict (there are only 16 in the system).
* I/O: There are literally hundreds of port I/O address. The Kurzweil driver
uses I/O 330 by default - if there is another internal MIDI interface
or sound card installed, it may be using this same setting. Try different
resource settings for the Kurzweil WaveTable driver.
WINDOWS 3.1
1) Make a "map" of which devices use which resources.
Note: In Win 3.1 this is the *only* way to know which IRQs are free to
use.
2) Consult the documentation for your various cards (some cards have IRQ
settings printed directly on them.)
3) Using the Windows Setup/Config Utility included in the Pinnacle program
group, move the I/O address that the Kurzweil is ON.
WINDOWS 95
* A resource conflict that is not intercepted and reported by Windows could
be caused by a "legacy" device that doesn't have a registered driver
showing up in the Device Manager (eg. older boards that use Win 3.1
drivers in the "system.ini" file). In this case, change the Kurzweil
port address:
1) Click Start -> Settings -> System -> Control Panel -> Device Manager
-> Sound, video and game controllers -> TBS Pro Series Kurzweil
Synthesizer -> Properties -> Resources.
2) Uncheck the "Use Automatic Settings" check box.
3) Change the "Settings Based On" to "Basic Configuration 0001".
4) Highlight the "Input/Output Range".
5) Click "Change Setting".
5) Select the new setting in the "Value" box.
6) Do not check the "Use Automatic Settings" box - otherwise the computer
will move the card back to the original settings and the same problem
will reoccur.
7) Click [OK] for the changes to take place.
WINDOWS NT 4.0
* Make sure that the TBS Pro Series Digital Audio device is installed:
1) Open Control Panel -> Multimedia -> Devices.
2) Make sure the device is listed under the Audio section. (If not,
install it.)
3) Double-click on it and click on the [Settings] button. This will bring
up a configuration window.
4) Change the interrupt assigned to the Kurzweil.
Note 1: Some network cards use port addresses near the 330 range.
You may need to change the port address as well.
Note 2: You can find out SOME of the settings that are available in your
system by clicking Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools ->
Windows NT Diagnostics.
Note 3: DO NOT reinstall the drivers to get the configuration window.
If you must reinstall the drivers, first remove the Pinnacle
devices from the Multimedia -> Devices window.
