FAQ
Q: I had been told by another company that Dolby Digital headphones and a
Dolby Digital Live sound card is not ideal and does not produce the best
effect. Please can you let me know if the two products are compatible and
if they would work together. Thanks.

A: Dolby headphones are stereo headphones that use HRTF to give the
impression of 5.1. DDL actually encodes the audio information from its
original source format to 5.1 in real time. You should experience no
compatibility problems with Dolby Digital headphones and DDL.

X-51, X-52: "vib" Dial - What is?
Q: I have your Ear Force x-51 and I am wondering what the "vib" dial on the
headphones is supposed to do. I have played with it and it doesn't seem
to affect the sound at all.

A: The "vib" dial is to adjust the amount of sub bass frequencies and
vibration. Depending on your sound card and its output, since these are
non-amplified headphones, you may not notice a huge difference in the
source material. The difference would be more pronounced if you use the
optional Turtle Beach (6 Channel Headphone Amplifier) that is packaged
with the "Ear Force HPA" headphones. It is available on our Web Site
    under the X-52 Accessories page:
    http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/earforce/x52/accessories.asp
It sells for $49.95 plus S&H as a stand-alone item. (Optional Accessory)

X-51, X-52: Vibration Effect:
Q: Can the vibrating aspect be disengaged if I find it annoying and if so
    how simply?

A: The vibrating aspect of these Headphones cannot be disabled. What you can
do however, is lower the Volume of the Sub-woofer from your Soundcard.
Since the Subwoofer is always connected to the "Center" material, this
will also affect the level of the material handled by the Center. If your
Sound Card offers a multi-band Equalizer, a better option is to lower the
level of the low Frequency to reduce the Vibration Effect.

X-51, X-52: DVD Player compatibility?
Q: Please let me know if your Ear Force X51, X52 or HPA surround sound
headphones can be directly connected to a DVD player or HDTV via a
digital audio-optical or digital audio-coaxial output.

A: The X-51, X-52 and HPA headphones are designed to work with your 5.1
capable computer sound card. They cannot be connected directly to a DVD
Player as they do not have a Decoder built into the interface.

X-51, X-52:
Q: I would like to buy the Ear Force X-51 but first I want to know if it
will get the 5.1 sound in my mp3 player.

A: If your mp3 player sends a 5.1 signal and has outputs for a 5.1 system,
then you will receive a 5.1 signal in the headphones. If your mp3 player
does not send a 5.1 signal, you will only receive a stereo signal.

X-51, X-52: USB connection?
Q: Hi there. I just received my new X-51 headphones. I have to tell you
that I love them, but I have one minor problem. I thought that it was
going to be a USB interface and not 3 stereo plugs and one Mic. I don't
want to return them. I just want to see if there is anything that you
guys offer that would allow me to use these headphones on my laptop in
    5.1 surround sound?

A: At this time, we do not have a USB adapter that will allow you to use
the X-51, X-52 with a laptop. We do offer the "USB Audio Advantage Micro"
which will allow you to "pass through" Dolby and DTS digital audio to a
decoder or to use with a stereo pair of headphones. The sound card will
also allow you to use virtual 5.1 on stereo audio files.

X-51, X-52:
Q: I just purchased the 5.1 headphones with power and for 5.1 card. Thought
I could use it with regular headphone jack for my PC. oops.

A: You can use the headphones you currently have for a stereo source,
provided that they are plugged into a power source. Since the onboard
amp requires a power source, they need to be plugged in. Other than that,
you can use them in any scenario...stereo, quad and 5.1.

X-51, X-52: Single "stereo" jack connection:
Q: I don't have the single "stereo" jack connection only the mutliple 5.1
connectors so can I purchase that different connector?

A: You can purchase the accessory directly from our web site:

X-51, X-52: Home Theater System compatibility 1:
Q: Can the ear force X51, X52 be connected to my theater system? thanks

A: The X-51, X-52 are designed to be used with a 5.1 capable sound card.
They are not really designed to be used with a home theater system.
You may want to have a look at our web site to obtain specifications
and features for all of our surround sound headphones.

X-51, X-52: Home Theater System compatibility 2:
Q: Do the X-51, X-52 work with an existing home theater system that has
    5.1/dts?

A: If your receiver has analog 1/8 inch Front, Rear and Center/Sub jacks
    then it will.
