ISSUE:
The sound on the X3 headphone is low when powered on and returns to normal
volume when the volume control is turned up.
SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION:
You put on the headphones, turn them on, and the sound is lower than
expected. In response, you turn up the volume, then the sound level
returns to normal volume.
EXPLANATION:
The headphone amplifier is designed to prevent a "pop" sound when the
power turns on. To accomplish this, the amplifier mutes the output until
it senses an input level that is loud enough to qualify as a valid input
signal. Once it senses the input signal, it comes out of the mute state
and the sound plays at normal volume. You may notice this if the
headphones are powered on when the volume control is set to a level below
the threshold, which typically less than 30% of the maximum setting.
SOLUTION:
If you turn on the headphones and don't hear anything, turn up the volume
control until the sound kicks in, or blow into the mic and the sound from
your breath will be enough to turn on the amplifier.
