Q:  The old stock xbox live headsets will not work with the Chatpad because it
    doesn't have the same port once you plug the chatpad in. So I'm wondering
    how this headset plugs into the controller, and will it work with the new 
    chatpad?


A:  Unfortunately, the Ear Force X1, X2, X3, X4 cannot be used at the same 
    time as the chatpad because the connector is incompatible. The X3, X4 
    talkback cable uses the auxiliary pins on the XBOX connector to power 
    its internal circuitry, just as the chatpad does. The chatpad provides 
    only a 2.5mm headphone jack and does not extend the auxiliary pins for 
    an additional device to use. 

    The standard Microsoft headset is also incompatible with the Chatpad, 
    which is why they include a special headset. A simple male to female 
    adapter cable will not work. To use the X3, X4 you would have to first 
    remove the Chatpad in order to insert the connector directly into the
    controller.
