S/PDIF - Digital I/O does not work
There are a number of possible causes for this:

* There Is No Input at the Digital Receiver

  This error can be caused simply by the fact that jumper JP1 is set to the
  incorrect position. If you have the digital daughterboard attached to the
  card, both rows of JP1 must be jumpered across the second and third pins
  (closest to the metal bracket and Mic In jack), or if you are using the
  S/PDIF bracket, the connector should be installed on those pins.

  (If you are using the Microphone Input for an analog signal, and do not
  want to use the digital functions of the card, both rows of JP1 should be
  jumpered on the first and second pins.)

* S/PDIF "Y" adapter is a monaural 1/8"

  You can determine if this is the problem by counting the number of colored
  rings on the 1/8" plug end of the "Y". If there is only one colored band
  or ring on the silver part of the connector, then you have a monaural
  cable and need to replace it. If there are two colored bands, it is a
  stereo cable and the problem must be either that the cable is bad, or the
  extension cables attached to it are faulty.

* Daughtercard not present

  The digital I/O daughtercard is required to use the S/PDIF interface for
  transfer of fully digital audio data.

* Incorrect Wiring

  Try switching the left and right RCA connectors.

* S/PDIF bracket is not correctly installed

  Be sure that the connector on the end of the wire from the bracket is
  connected to the third row of pins on jumper JP1. The red wire should
  be on the top pin. For reference, the set of pins you should have
  connected are closest to the metal bracket and Mic In jack on the sound
  card.

* There is not a digital source connected to the card

  You must have a digital source connected to the card. For example, the
  S/PDIF output of a DAT machine is connected to the S/PDIF input of the
  sound card. You cannot connect a Line Out from an audio device to this
  connection. It is intended for a digital signal only.

* S/PDIF is not selected in Audio Mixer

  Open the Audio Mixer, located in Start -> Programs -> TBS Pro Audio.
  Check the Record Select button (with the red triangle) in the mixer.
  If the S/PDIF is not selected (or illuminated), it won't record from
  the S/PDIF. Also, if the Record Select button doesn't remain lit, click
  the Advanced button to the left of it and uncheck "Line In if Digital In
  unlocks". Then click the Record Select button again. It should now stay
  selected.
