Tropez32/TBS-2000 - FAQs

All files and documentation are offered on an *AS IS* basis and you assume full responsibility for using them.
Install (Clean)
- Confirm that you've got the version 1.5 install for Windows 95.
Also, you will need the eeprom update. You can download both from
  www.tbeach.com

- Put the diskette in your drive and find the cleantbs folder.
- Double-click on it and see that you've got a cleantbs.inf file with
a notepad like icon next to it.
- Move the mouse pointer so that it is over the file and click the right mouse
button once. Note that a menu will appear.
- Move the mouse pointer to the Install option and click the left mouse button
once. You will see the hour glass momentarily. It is recommended that you
repeat this process of running the cleantbs at least twice. This way, you
can be sure that the sound card's entries are removed from your system.

NOTE: If you are running OSR2 (Windows 95b - to see your version, go to
Control Panel -> System -> General page.), you will need to manually delete
the Turtle Beach inf files from the c:\windows\inf\other directory.
If you cannot see the inf folder in the windows folder, go up to View in the
menu bar, then options, then click on the View tab and select show all
  files.

- Now, that the card's drivers are removed, we need to verify that you've got
sufficient resources to run the card. The TBS-2000 needs 2 available IRQs
and really favors IRQ 11, 5 and 9. Please make sure that at least two of
these IRQ's are available by going to Control Panel -> System -> Device
Manager. Go up to the Computer heading and double click on it. You'll see
a list of resources by type. Click the dot by IRQ to view these. Make sure
that at least 2 are free. If the preferred IRQ's are taken, you should
reassign resources until they are free.

- Next, restart the machine and press F8 when you see the message
'Starting Windows 95' Select option 3 'Safe Mode'. After a while, you will
get to the desktop. Go to Device Manager and Sound, Video & Game
Controllers. Make sure that nothing is out of the ordinary. For example,
you shouldn't see multiple instances of the TBS2000. If anything is out of
the ordinary, click on the device and then click on the remove button.

- Restart the machine in real mode DOS. Press F8 'Starting Windows 95' and
select Command Prompt only. Go to the folder or drive where you have the
eeprom update. It is a file called update.bat. Type update at a dos prompt
and press enter. Follow the prompts and the card's settings will be
  updated.

- Now, drum roll please, we are ready to go into Windows. From DOS, type win
and press enter. Windows should display the New Hardware Found box, list
the TBS-2000, and ask for the drivers. Put the driver disk v 1.5 in the
drive and select disk provided by manufacturer. Each device should be
installed. If for any reason it gives you a list and asks which device to
install, select them in the following order:

        TBS2000 audio hardware
        TBS2000 pnp control registers
        TBS2000 Wavetable Synthesizer
        MPU-401compatible
        Joystick

- At this point, restart and all should be well.
