Software and Hardware Conflicts
Q: What is the correct setup for the Rio Configuration Utility?
A: This depends on the type of soundcard Rio is mounted to. In every
case, Rio will be controlled by one of the MIDI outputs on the host
card. For example, if you are connecting Rio to a "Brand X" soundcard,
you would choose "Brand X Ext. Out," or "Brand X MIDI Out" in the
Select Rio MIDI Device section of the Rio Configuration Utility. If
you have added an SIPP memory chip to Rio, you must mark the size
   (256 K, 1 MB, 4 MB).

Note: When connecting the Rio to a sound card not of Turtle Beach origin,
open the Rio Configuration Utility ("hammer" icon in the Rio program
group) and make sure the box labeled "Daughterboard MIDI Out
Available" in the MIDI Device Setup section is NOT checked.

Q: I checked the setup above, but I still can't hear anything!
   What's wrong?
A: On certain sound cards, connecting a peripheral device (joystick, etc.)
to the 15-pin connector can cut off the connection to the MIDI header.
If you have a joystick (or other peripheral) plugged in, temporarily
remove it and see if the sound to Rio is restored. If that is the
case, you may need to purchase a MIDI adapter that splits the MIDI pins
from the joystick pins. Contact your soundcard manufacturer for
   information about this adapter.

Q: Notes seem to hang or continuously run on during an application or
   game. What is the problem?
A: Check two items:
   1. Make sure the Rio is properly seated on the host card's connector.
   2. Remove the joystick from the host device. The direct joystick
connection may block a pin needed for the Rio to communicate with
the host device. You can correct this by obtaining a combination
joystick/MIDI cable, available from your soundcard manufacturer.
      (See previous question, above.)

Q: I seem to lose polyphony when accessing Rio from an external keyboard.
How can I remedy this problem?
A: In the Rio Control Panel, push the Meter button to the Off position
   (Red=On and Black=Off).

Note: If you are using a SIPP memory module for the SampleStore feature,
the SIPP should physically fit in the Rio with the SIPP's chips
facing the component side of the host device (facing the same
      direction as the Rio's chips).

SIPP memory modules may be difficult to obtain. At the time of
this writing, SIPP modules are available from Pacific Coast Micro
      (800)561-6040.

Q: Will I be able to hear the Rio while playing games?
A: A game or application must have a choice or selection in its setup
   for GENERAL MIDI.
