1) Click right mouse button anywhere on the desktop (except on an icon,
window, taskbar or shortcut bar).
2) A menu will appear with the following options:
Arrange Icons >
Line Up Icons
Paste (grayed out)
Paste Shortcut (grayed out)
New >
Properties
3) Select Properties. A window will appear with four tabs (Background |
Screen Saver | Appearance | Settings).
4) Click on the Settings tab.
5) You will see various settings that can be adjusted to control the
size and number of colors for the display:
a) Color palette: This is best set to 256 Colors. Setting it higher is
not needed unless you are using graphics, game or other applications
that require more colors.
b) Desktop area: this slider controls the amount of the screen that is
visible. For the largest, easiest-to-read display, choose 640 by 480
pixels. To see more on screen at one time, choose 800 by 600 or larger
(everything will be smaller in order to fit on the screen).
c) Font size: this should be set to Small Fonts. Large Fonts may work,
but some programs have problems displaying Large Fonts.
