**PLEASE NOTE: Not all TVs have Digital Optical Outputs. The following information applies only to TVs/potential setups that meet the requirements mentioned in the article. We are unable to guarantee universal TV/PS4 Slim compatibility using the following info, as every TV has a slightly different setup/specifications that may affect this.**
The PS4 Slim console released in September 2016 does not include the Digital Optical Output that was present on the original PS4 (2013). The PS4 Slim console is similar to the previous Original PS4 console, but the absence of the Digital Optical Output will mean that some headsets will perform differently. The USB-only connection to a PS4 ‘slim’ will not provide independent controls for Chat and Game audio levels. However, if your TV has an optical digital audio output, you can use that for the Game sound feed. Doing so will give you the benefits of independent Chat and Game audio level controls plus Dolby Digital surround decoding.
The optical cable that comes with your Stealth 700 for PS4 is usually too short to reach from the front of your PS4 Slim to the back of your TV. Turtle Beach offers a cable adapter kit that contains both a 3.5mm optical-to-Toslink adapter and a longer optical cable to reach from the headset’s transmitter to the optical out jack on the back of your TV: Adapter + Digital Optical Cable Bundle
Using that bundle with your PS4 Slim and your TV’s optical digital output, you’ll get the full benefit of all the features your Stealth 700 for PS4 has to offer, plus be able to use your headset and its DTS Headphone:X surround processing for cable or satellite TV, DVD or Bluray movie discs, streaming video services from your media server, PC/Mac, iOS or Android portable device, or whatever program material your TV is capable of playing.
If your television has an optical output on its rear panel, and you want to use that to connect to your TB transmitter's DIGITAL IN, you may need to go into your TV's settings to enable the optical output and set it to transmit Bitstream or Dolby Digital audio (instead of stereo Linear PCM).
