PS4 Headset Upgrade Kit - Setup Instructions

NOTE: The PS4 Headset Upgrade Kit is not compatible with the slimmer PS4 released in September 2016. The slimmer PS4 does not have a digital optical output. The information below is only applicable to the original PS4 (2013) and PS4 Pro.

The PS4 Headset Upgrade Kit includes a DAC1 (Digital-to-Analog Converter) and PS4 Chat Cable that will enable you to connect Xbox 360/PS3 stereo headsets to the PS4 for game audio and chat. The DAC1 offers an Optical Input(Audio In) and a USB Out and Line Out so you can connect a stereo headset to the PS4's optical output for audio if you do not have red and white AUDIO OUT ports on the back of your TV. The USB Out offers a USB power connection for wired headsets with amplifiers, and allows for USB chat with headsets that feature USB chat.

The PS4 Chat Cable is intended for Xbox 360 compatible headsets that feature a talkback cable jack for chat.

The PS4 Headset Upgrade Kit is designed for the following headsets:

P11 COD Ghosts: Shadow
PX11 COD Ghosts: Spectre
PX22 COD Black Ops 2: Kilo
PX21 COD MW3: Foxtrot
X12 COD MW3: Bravo
X11 Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes
Z22 Marvel SEVEN

The following can be used with the PS4 Upgrade Kit if a 3.5mm Stereo Cable is purchased separately (3.5mm stereo cables are fairly common and can be found at many electronics retailers):

XP300
PX3
X32

Why do I need the PS4 Headset Upgrade Kit?

The PS4 Headset Upgrade Kit is necessary if your headset uses a stereo connection for audio and if you do not have red and white AUDIO OUT outputs on the back of your TV. The DAC1 is an easy and direct way to connect a stereo headset for PS4 use.

The setup can vary depending on which headset you have. Below are setup diagrams for specific wired headsets:

For X11/X12:

1. Plug the DAC1's USB connector (TO CONSOLE)  to a USB port on the front of the PS4.
2. Connect the smaller end of the Digital Optical Cable to the AUDIO IN on the DAC1, and the larger end to the S/PDIF output on the back of the PS4.
3. Plug the USB connector from the amplifier to the USB OUT  on the DAC1.
4. Connect the green 3.5mm plug from the amplifier to the LINE OUT  on the DAC1.
5. Connect the smaller 2.5mm end of the PS4 Chat Cable to the Xbox 360 Talkback Cable Jack on the amplifier, and the larger 3.5mm end of the cable to the Headset Jack on the bottom of the PS4 Controller.

For P11, PX11, PX22, PX21, Z22, Shadow, Spectre, Kilo, Foxtrot, Marvel Seven:

1. Plug the DAC1's USB connector (TO CONSOLE)  to a USB port on the front of the PS4.
