PX4 - How to Power Cycle (Reset) Your Headset

The following article details how to Power Cycle or Reset your PX4 headset and transmitter. This is always the first troubleshooting step we recommend, as many issues can be resolved with a simple power cycle.

- Strange sounds in the headset
- Headset not powering on
- Bizarre issues like switching sides
- Other "glitchy" behavior

To perform a power cycle correctly, you will need to go through everything in the proper order.  First, unplug the transmitter's USB power cable to make sure it is completely shut down.  Then, while it is shut down, completely power down the headset.

To power off and hard reset the headset, press and hold its MUTE button for 15 seconds.  You may hear a sound as the headset turns off completely and the remaining power in its circuits discharges.

For all headsets:

Once you're done, connect the transmitter's USB power cable, then power on the headset.  You may find that you need to re-pair the headset to its transmitter after this complete power cycle.  If you are having any trouble pairing, you can find PX4 Pairing Instructions here.

If you are still having issues after cycling the power, please take a look through our Knowledgebase to see if you can find your specific problem, or contact support .

If the headset is completely out of power, then the product would need to be replaced. To submit a claim for warranty replacement, please provide your information here: http://www.turtlebeach.com/en-us/contact-support/

    @ Turtlez

If it fails to respond at all, then it may have an issue. You would want to look into replacing it as needed.

    @ Chris

The PX4 is an older discontinued model. You may not find it available with us.

At this point, only second hand resellers or some online vendors would still have stock, but most likely of the full product and not the individual parts.

    @ Cameron

This article is for the PX4 not the Stealth 400. Your headset will not power off/reset in the same way as this.

Do you have the PX24 headset, or the PX4? This article is specifically for the PX4. If you have the PX24 headset, you may want to check out some of our PX24 articles; if those articles do not resolve the issue, you’ll want to contact our support team.
