Recon 50X - Xbox One Audio Issues

This article applies to the Recon 50X on a Xbox One Console:

If you're experiencing audio issues with your Recon 50X when it's connected to your Xbox One Controller, we recommend testing and verifying the following:

1. Connect the headset to a mobile audio device (tablet, smartphone, mp3 player, etc) and play a song or video you're familiar with.

2. If you're able to hear the song/video through the headset clearly, then the headset is working properly and the issue may be with the Xbox One Controller. Please note the following:

  • Do not plug the Xbox One Controller into a USB port on your Xbox One Console while the headset is connected to the Xbox One Controller. This can cause audio distortion or connection issues. If you're charging your Xbox One Controller, we recommend plugging it into a separate Wall USB Adapter or charge the controller when it's not in use.

If you have checked the note above and are still experiencing audio issues when the Recon 50X is connected to your Xbox One Controller, try these suggestions:

  • Use a different Xbox One Controller.
  • Replace the Xbox One Headset Adapter (if you're using one with an older Xbox One Controller)
  • Restart your Xbox One
  • Replacing the batteries in your Xbox One controller with brand new, non-rechargeable batteries
  • Try using the standard Xbox One Headset included with the console to see if you have the same issue. If so, please contact Microsoft.

3. If you're unable to hear sound through the headset clearly when it's connected to a mobile device, then there may be an issue with the headset itself. In that case, please contact our Support Team here.

Thanks for the help. Don't charge your controller if you want to listen through ear/headphones.😀

Is the headset supposed to make the game sound loud and the party chat not hear able?

  • Avatar
    TB Admin

Hi Breton, the party chat should be hear-able as long as your game/chat volume balance is set properly. If you're not using a chat adapter connected to your controller, then the volume balance can be changed in the Xbox One menu.

My headset is still spazzing even after I changed controllers and it's not plug in to the xbox

Sorry to hear that James Orale.

What exactly do you mean by spazzing? If you take your headset and try it in a cellphone or mp3 player to listen for audio, does it continue to have this problem?

If this spazzing keeps up, please hit up our Support team here:

What if my controller is a wired controller?

    @ Samuel

Setup/use on a wired controller for Xbox one is the same as wireless.

I have just bought a recon 50x for me Xbox one and the audio is fine but I can't seem to have game sound when in party chat. I've tried changing the audio mixer sliders in settings with no luck. Any advice?

i can't hear from one side of the headset (the right side) and i plunged it in to 3 different controllers (PS4) and didn't work still so i plunged it in to my mac and played music and it worked perfectly. so if anyone knows a solution please tell me.

    @ Craig

Check your xbox settings, as things like parental controls, network, etc. will limit your chat capability.
Double check the headset on a cellphone as well to make sure it doesnt have an issue.

    @ Zane

You get only audio in one side, but only when you try it on a controller?

You are fine on the mac? If you try it on a cellphone is it also fine?

You may want to look into replacing this if a new purchase, otherwise contact our support team.

I'm having a major issue with this headset I recently purchased, no matter what settings are changed on the Xbox the headset does not work on it at all, other headsets work no problem.  I have tested the headset on other devices i.e. Listening to music it works.   But nothing I do makes it work on the Xbox one.

    @ RC

If it works away from the console, it may be an issue with the controller proper. Try another controller, but if it persists you may want to return/exchange the headset itself.

I can't hear through the left ear cup (only the right one) and its bothering me. Same for if I plug the headphones in my laptop or tablet. It was working a bit earlier and now its not working at all. Can you please help?

If your headset isnt playing full audio in both ears, and on multiple devices then you would want to look into replacement.

I will contact the support team, but can anyone just tell me if they know how to fix this issue. I can hear my friends but only when my volume is on max, same for game volume (Never had to be that way) And on YouTube videos I can hear background sounds I.e music but not voices, and even the background sound quality is awful!!! I've tried a bunch of stuff.

Hey, so i've got this problem where only sound plays in only one side of the headset. What should I do???

  • Avatar
    TB Admin

    @ Luz

You want to try it away from the controller, which will verify if the microphone itself has a problem

    @ Sweg

That is unusual, the support team would probably look into replacement as there is no quick fix i know of.

    @ Asher

Try it on another device like a phone, if it continues on the one side then it may indicate a problem with the headset proper. You would want to contact our support team from there.

Hey I have an Xbox one keypad and my headset has recently had issues with chat sound, I hear my friends but like they are far away.y original head set still works though. Is it the keypad or the headset issues?

  • Avatar
    TB Admin

    @ Robert

Try the headset away from the console/keypad. On a cellphone would work best. See if you have any of the same issues on a phone call. If so, the headset may have an issue. If not, then it may indeed be on the controller or chatpad end.
